1.0 Overview of Region

Eastern Region is “Home of chains of highlands, woody valleys and water falls”. It is the third (3rd) most popular region after Ashanti Region and Greater Accra Region, lying between latitude 60° and 70° N and between longitude 10° 30’ West and 0°30’ East. The region shares common boundaries with the GAR, CR, ASH, BA and VR.

1.2 ADMINISTRATIVE SET UP 

The Regional Minister is the head of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) and is assisted by a Deputy Regional Minister and the Regional Coordinating Director.
The Region is made up of 16 Districts and 1 Municipality with Koforidua as the Regional Capital.

 

In all there are 17 Municipal / District Assemblies and they are headed by the Municipal / District Chief Executives
